How To Make Appliances Last

The secret to keep your appliances running smoothly is cleanliness, Many appliances malfunction due to “goo, dust  and gunk.” It doesn’t really take much time and effort to clean them. By doing so, you can extend their lifespan by years.

  • Ceiling Fan: You are in trouble If the blades are wobbling. This wears out the motor a lot faster. Dust off the tops of the blades and tighten the screws to make sure everything is locked into place.
  • Air conditioner: Its coils need to be cleaned every once in a while. Remove the filter cover and run a vacuum brush over the coils. Clean the filter or replace it depending on what kind of model you have.
  • Stove and Oven: Gas stoves need to be kept clean to ensure burners and igniters will keep on for years. Use a warm cloth and a bit of dish soap to get them spic and span. The super-high-temperature can be hard on your oven’s wiring and electrical components, so using the self-cleaning feature should be avoided. How To Get Organized In Seven Days

You just have to devote just one week (a project a day) to creating order and you’ll be amazed what a calming influence it can be.

Monday: Organize your inbox. Come home early from work for a cleaning session. Activate your out-of-the-office e-mail reply and turn off the auto chime for two hours. Create new folders for contacts, projects and meetings. Sort them alphabetically then redirect e-mails to folders or delete them. So next time, be relentless and begin filing or deleting e-mails on arrival.

Tuesday:
Organize your cabinet. Gather 2 cardboard boxes and place punch bowls and platters you haven’t used in months in basement or yard sale. Replace cabinet lining and sift through cans, teas and cracker boxes, throwing out the expired and moving older cans to the front. Place your flour, cereal and sugar into plastic containers to keep them fresh and protected against bugs. (more…)
