New Face in Transformers 3

It has been announced last month that Megan Fox would not be returning for the latest “Transformers” movie. Her departure raised the question of who would replace Fox as Shia LaBeouf’s romantic interest in the movie?

After a week of speculations, it was officially revealed by Michael Bay on his blog that British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the new cast on the film. Bay announced that Whiteley is the new female lead in “Transformers 3.”

Bay and Huntington-Whiteley were worked together in a commercial for Victoria’s Secret, other than that, she has no acting credits to her name. She had appeared on the past 4 installments of the “Victoria Secret Fashion Show,” and was a guest on “Britain’s Next Top Model.” There’s also a report that she’s dating “Transporter” star Jason Statham.

“Transformers 3″ has already begun its filming in Los Angeles and will continue across the globe over the next 4 1/2 months. It is scheduled to open on July 1, 2011.

Lady Gaga Is Taylor Swift’s Latest Admirer

I know it’s a shocker but it’s true. In a recent interview, Lady  Gaga started dissing Taylor Swift but ended up heaping a genuine praise instead.

Gaga was asked to name a song she is embarrassed to like, her answer was, “That Taylor Swift song? ‘You Belong With Me’? Oh my God! When it comes on the radio, I sing it so loud.” But she clarified that she’s not slamming Taylor’s tune.

Gaga explained that her embarrassment comes mostly from singing it “so freely” and “so loud” whenever she hears it. “It’s very whimsical in a way that I’m not necessarily whimsical every day,” she noted.

Also, she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with the song at all. “It’s a great song!” she insists. Her final words are, “I didn’t mean that in a bad way, Taylor. I think you’re lovely and beautiful, and I think you’re a great songwriter.”

Kristen Stewart Apologizes For Her Comments

“Twilight” star Kristen Stewart on Friday apologized for comparing her reluctant fame and the swarm of media surrounding her to being raped, explaining she had made “an enormous mistake.” Stewart is known for being ill at ease with the media frenzy surrounding her role as Bella Swan in the blockbuster movie “Twilight.”

She has been criticized by fans and rape victim groups for comparing her experience on the red carpet to a sexual assault. She told the July edition of Britain’s Elle magazine, “The photos are so…I feel like I’m looking at someone being raped…A lot of the time I can’t handle it.”

She was ironically played a rape victim in the 2004 movie “Speak” and has been a spokeswoman for the group Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN). Stewart told People Magazine while she’s in Korea promoting her June 30 release of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” “I really made an enormous mistake — clearly and obviously. And I’m really sorry about my choice of words.” (more…)

Rue McClanahan of “Golden Girls” Dies of Stroke

Actress Rue McClanahan, 76, has died after suffering a massive stroke. McClanahan was best known for her award-winning role as man-crazy Southern belle on TV comedy “The Golden Girls.”

According to her manager, she died in a New York City hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning with family members by her side. She had suffered a minor stroke last November while recovering from heart bypass surgery.

Her death leaves Betty White, 88, as the only surviving member of ‘The Golden Girls” main cast following the deaths of Bea Arthur in 2009 and Estelle Getty in 2008. White called McClanahan “a close and dear friend” and she treasured their relationship. “It hurts more than I even thought it would, if that’s possible,” White said.

Aside from winning an Emmy, McClanahan earned Emmy nods 3 other times and was also nominated for 3 Golden Globe honors in the same role.

On personal note: I really love her as Blanche Devereaux. She always makes me laugh every time I watch “The Golden Girls”. It breaks my heart to know that she is gone. I will miss her forever.

Twitter Users Wants A Non-White Spider-Man

A Twitter campaign wants “Community” actor Donald Glover to be the first African American Spider-Man. This weekend the Twitter hashtag “donald4spiderman” became the #3 trending topic in the U.S., and the campaign is still gaining steam.

It started after surveying the 5 mostly unknown white actors said to be vying for the Peter Parker role, the writer for  the sci-fi site io9.com, Marc Bernadin called it “bland”. He asked, “In this day and age, why does Spidey have to be a white guy?” In response, commenters to Bernadin’s site threw out Donald Glover’s name as a possible contender. That’s when the Twitter campaign was born.

However, the subject is in question since Glover seems to like the idea. But he made it clear on his Twitter page that he’s interested in auditioning and not just being handed down the role without first having to prove his worthiness. Although he had nothing to do with the campaign, he himself has been promoting the campaign and instructing fans to tweet the #donald4spiderman hash tag at strategic times to keep it trending. Robert Pattinson’s New Haircut

“Twilight” star, Robert Pattinson debuted his 3-day-old haircut on Wednesday’s episode of “The Ellen De Generes Show”. As you can see on the photo, the sides are noticeably shaved but the top appears mostly unchanged.

The young star joked to Ellen that he had a “terrible infestation of nits” and was forced to shear it down. But Ellen immediately responded, “No you did not! Don’t start that rumor!”

The real reason of his new haircut is that he is in preparation for his new upcoming movie, “Water for Elephants” with Reese Witherspoon. He will be playing the role of a circus worker in the 1930s who fall in love with Witherspoon’s character. (more…)
