Your hair is your crowning glory. It’s also the reflection of yourself. Messy hair means you are a messy person. But if your hair is stunningly shiny and beautiful, everyone will take notice of you and give you the second look every time you pass through. Plus the fact that having a smooth, shiny and full hair makes you feel better about your self.
However, time is your enemy when it comes to fixing your hair. Sometimes you have to rush up because you’ll be wait from work, appointments or engagements that you don’t have time to set your precious hair.
But, there is a solution to your fixing-your-hair problem. Instead of playing with the styling products or using the blow-dryer, you can make your hair look better simply by eating certain foods.
Know the key nutrients for a bouncy, strong and shiny hair. Put them in your plate and you will not only have a healthy hair but a healthy body too.
Your food must contain the following:
- Protein. Though high in fat but protein is the building block of each strand. For a low fat protein, you can take lean cuts of meat, seafood or mix a light meat with dark meat.
- Iron rich food like meat, fortified grains, leafy greens and shellfish supports the hair growth.
- Zinc for a shiny hair. It strengthens the natural oil of your hair that creates shine. Meat, chickpeas, yogurt, pumpkin seeds and nuts are good source of this mineral.
- You can get another help by eating apples, apricots and sweet potatoes which are rich in Vitamin A.
- Biotin, B6 and B12 promote new growth within the follicles of your hair. You can find them in whole-grain breads, low-fat cheese, oatmeal, eggs, skim milk, salmon, nut butters and nuts.
- For cell renewal in your scalp, eat foods that are rich in Vitamin C. Strawberries and kiwis are high in Vitamin C. You can also try mangoes, oranges, red bell peppers and raspberries.
- For a healthy scalp, eat foods with anti-oxidants like in herbs, dark chocolate, and fresh berries. This will give your hair and scalp a sparking cell turnover.
