The New Philippine President Proclaimed

Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III becomes the 15th president of the Republic of the Philippines. The son of the two democratic icons Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino II and former president Corazon Aquino is “The new Aquino” who won convincingly in the country’s first automated and fastest elections in Philippine history.

The people rejoiced right after the proclamation of the new President and Vice President was announced by the Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Speaker of the House Prospero Nograles. This is truly a remarkable experience of my life as I witness the many hopes of the Filipinos rising above all.

Change is now chasing us and I hope we grab that opportunity to become a great nation. May the Lord bless our new president and his administration and may He bless us all. (more…)

Noynoy Aquino Featured on TIME Magazine

The Liberal Party bet Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is on the April 25, 2010 issue of the highly respected TIME magazine. It seems that Sen. Aquino inherited his mother’s place on the TIME’s cover for being the “1986 Woman of the Year”.

The article cited Aquino’s journey to the presidency after her mother, Cory Aquino, died of colon cancer and raised the question whether he would be able to “save the Philippines?” It also includes his family life, his singlehood and his struggle to convince voters to choose him over his rival Senator Manny Villar.

On personal note: I hope that someday a messiah will come and save our country just like the Jews who are still waiting for their “Messiah” to come. But with the economic situation in our country today, patience doesn’t seem to be a virtue anymore. We have to do something right here, right now before we ourselves fall into the pit of abject poverty and corruption.

Where in China was it?
The earthquake was centered near the Qinghai Province in western China. That is located right next to Tibet, the mountainous homeland of the Dalai Llama. While many people who live outside of China are aware of the country’s major cities on its east coast, far fewer have any understanding of the land’s geography out west. That explains the explosive searches on “china map” and “where is qinghai province.” (more…)
