Eater Bunny Origin:

It’s Easter Sunday! This is the day that Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead. But why many people use a giant rabbit to symbolize Easter holiday? What exactly is the origin of the Easter Bunny and who created it?

Luckily, Web has the answers:

The Mental Floss explains that hundreds of years ago, “many pagan cultures held spring festivals.” One festival was devoted to “Eostre, the goddess of dawn.” Eostre was “linked to the hare and the egg, both symbols of fertility.” In an attempt to convert the pagans, Christian missionaries began to turn these festivals into Christian holidays and mixed the pagan traditions with their own. Two celebrations became one. (more…)

Visita Iglesia is now Online

church-visitVisita Iglesia or church visit is a Catholic tradition in the Philippines in which the christians are going to visit seven churches on Maundy Thursday to pray and reflect on the coming suffering of Jesus Christ. But now, you can still fulfill the Holy Week obligations without visiting the churches especially if you’re sick or ill, working and living outside the country. How is that possible?

It is now possible through the aid of computer and the worldwide web. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) set up a website www.cbcponline.net. It features the facades and interiors of seven Metro Manila churches such as Manila Cathedral, San Agustin church, Quiapo Church, San Lorenzo Ruiz Church, Tondo Church Malate Church and Baclaran church.

With just a click, a believer enters the first church, is led to the stations of the cross and shown prayers to be read at each station. There is also an audio file of prayers and songs that can be played by pressing a button. Then it’s on to the next church. The portal will also feature the Siete Palabras (The Seven Last Words). Is there a God

faithI know, it’s Lenten Season and I have no intention of offending anyone with this article. But I just can’t help myself to ask if God truly exists.

Filipinos believe that God is always there for us no matter what. We believe that if we ask for help, He will be there for us. But from what is happening in our country right now, I don’t know if I can still believe in Him anymore.

We are the only Catholic country in Asia and yet we are poor and most of us are criminals. Are we blessed or forsaken people? Bakit kung sino pa ang mga taong walang malasakit sa bayan at sa kapwa Filipino niya ay sila pa ang pinagpapalang mamuno sa bansa? (more…)

Today is Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday

“Remember, O man, that you are dust, and unto dust you shall return.” ~ Genesis 3:19

“Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.”  ~ Mark 1:15

“Repent, and hear the good news.” ~ Mark 1:15

Today, February 17, 2010 is Ash Wednesday. This is the first day of Lent and occurs forty-six days (forty days not counting Sundays) before Easter. This is also the start of fasting, abstinence from meat and repentance.

By the way, what is having black ashes means? According to Bible, ashes were used in ancient times to express mourning. Dusting oneself with ashes was the penitent’s way of expressing sorrow for sins and faults.

So for all the Catholics out there, don’t forget to get ashed today. Remember you have to retain the mark until it wears off.
