How To Feel Happier In A Natural Way

We’d get ourselves to a doctor if we feel ill but if the feeling is emotional like being worried, sad or hopeless, we are likely to resist seeking help for months or even years. According to a survey by the pharmaceutical company Eli Lily, it takes 6 years for people to get treated for mood disorders.

Suffering in silence is a bad idea and failing to seek help for anxiety or depression is downright dangerous. The longer you wait, the worse things can get. Untreated anxiety can turn into depression and vice versa.

Getting a diagnose is your first step to feel like yourself again. You can ask your physician for a referral to a psychologist or a psychiatrist or you can call your insurer to provide you a list of mental health providers and I can assure you that you will be glad that you did. You can also do this to a friend who is struggling emotionally. (more…)

Strawberries To Fight Cancer

According to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), strawberry is one of the many fruits that can help battle cancer. This fruit contain phytonutrients and antioxidants that fight free radicals which transform to chemicals that damage cells and contribute to certain kinds of cancer.

Strawberries are rich in Vitamin C and a cup of these luscious fruit satisfies 140 percent of our required daily dose of Vitamin C. Vitamin C from fresh fruits and vegetables can lower the risk of developing polyarthritis, an inflammation of the joints and  those who consume low amounts of Vitamin C are more likely to develop inflammatory polyarthritis.

Vitamin C can prevent the decline of motor and cognitive skills related to Alzheimer’s disease, lower the occurrence of gout, stabilize blood glucose, protect against macular degeneration, improve wound healing, reduce wrinkles, alleviate varicose veins, strengthen the gums, and melt gallstones.

However, strawberries have a very low shelf life. It can only stay fresh for a day, but if refrigerated, it can stay fresh for about 3 to 4 days.

Antioxidants called flavanols found in cocoa are believed to be the reason why chocolate is good for blood pressure because the chemicals help the smooth muscle cells of the blood vessels to relax and widen.

A study of 21 patients with end-stage liver disease found those given a meal containing 85 percent-cocoa dark chocolate had a markedly smaller rise in blood pressure in the liver, or portal hypertension, than those given white chocolate. (more…)
